Also Starring was founded by director Vellu Valla and d.o.p Julle Salminen in 1988. Producer Johannes Lassila and director Markus Virpiö have joined the company as partners.The story began in 1988 on a marketplace café where these two gentlemen decided to establish a company of their own. Vellu had worked at Story Film and Julle was freelancing around the city. Also Starring soon became very busy and even started a new kind of thinking among production companies. It's all about the work - there is no bullshit.The tradition of Also Starring is based on the work of the "busiest director in the business" Vellu Valla, but in the last few years Also Starring has grown into a multi-director company. Also Starring is part of the Salva Partners group of companies, that co-owns Generator Post Production. Together they form a production chain based on film negative.Also Starring is probably the most awarded production company in Finland and has been highly ranked around the world too. Silver at Clio Festivals and numerous awards at The New York Film festival are among the sweetest ones. The only thing still missing is a Cannes lion - but what the heck. Our young directors are represented around the globe by talented agents, so maybe one day this paragraph will be a little longer because somebody gave us a great script to make into a film...
